Vintage collectors are often split on the 1968 Topps set. Some find the brown borders uninspiring while others give the assemblage high marks due to the rookie cards of Nolan Ryan and Johnny Bench, its two most crucial debut issues. One thing is for sure; scoring MINT and GEM MINT grades from the series has proven to be a lot more difficult than collectors realize. The featured set is one of the finest we've ever seen, not just for the series but of all sets we've ever had the privilege to offer! Coming in at a mind-boggling 9.94 GPA and a weighted 10.90 set rating, this collection has earned a place in the PSA Set Registry Hall of Fame. All but 26 of the cards are graded PSA 10 GEM MINT, and those are graded PSA 9 MINT, the key cards being #45 Seaver, 130 Perez, and 177 Ryan RC. So yes, this collection includes PSA 10 GEM MINT examples of #280 Mantle and 490 Superstars, 150 Clemente and 480 Managers' Dream, 50 Mays, 230 Rose, 247 Bench RC, 355 Banks, and 380 Aaron, as well as #20 B. Robinson, 27 Hodges, 80 Carew, 86 Stargell, 100 Gibson, 144 Morgan, 220 Killebrew, 240 Kaline, 250 Yastrzemski, 290 McCovey, 330 Maris, 408 Carlton, 500 F. Robinson, 520 Brock, and 575 Palmer. This set is being offered as a complete set and also as individual lots and will be sold by the highest aggregate result, whether that is the sum of the individual lots or the highest bid for the complete set. Our website will automatically reflect whichever portion has received the highest bidding total. Placing a bid on this lot constitutes bidding on the complete set.
