It's hard for a gridiron legend to accept that his best days have passed. Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, and Brett Favre were some of the greatest gunslingers in NFL history, but there came a time when the team they brought fame and fortune no longer wanted them. Each signed with a new club, hoping to rekindle the magic they once had, each with varying degrees of success. The same holds true for New York Jets Hall of Famer Joe Namath, whose multiple knee injuries had diminished the skills of the 34-year old star. Still, the Los Angeles Rams were willing to see if "Broadway Joe" could find the fountain of youth and make his flamboyant, no holds barred style work on the left coast. After a 2-1 start, Namath was injured in a week 4 loss and never played another down for the Rams. Offered is the game-used Rams home jersey worn by Joe Namath during that 1977 season. Evidence shows that the Sand-Knit manufacturer’s label has fallen off, a common occurrence since it was glue-affixed, unlike the Los Angeles Rams exclusivity label, which is still intact and stitched onto the left front tail. Glue remnants are clearly visible where the tag was originally placed. Light game use is evidence, which is acceptable given Namath’s limited playing time. A distinct feature of Namath gamers while with the Rams, the sleeves are trimmed right to the edge of the ram horn. LOA from Mile High Card Company.
