Taking the major leagues by storm as no starting pitcher had ever done before, 20 year old rookie Fernando Valenzuela started the 1981 season 8–0 with five shutouts and an ERA of 0.50, winning the National League Cy Young and Rookie of the Year Awards and helping the Dodgers capture a World Series Championship, defeating the the New York Yankees. A 20-game winner in 1986, "El Toro" became a fan favorite in Los Angeles and a symbol of success to players in his native Mexico. Presented is the Dodgers jersey worn by Valenzuela during the 1984 season, autographed in black marker on the left shoulder. A W.A. Goodman & Sons label is stitched into the collar and the 1984 Los Angeles Dodgers Stadium Olympic Baseball patch appears on the left sleeve.
