Distributed to American soldiers serving in Saudi Arabia, the 792-card 1991 Topps "Desert Shield" set was produced in very limited quantities and not made available for retail sale in the United States. The cards appear identical to the retail 1991 Topps issue except for a gold-foiled "Desert Shield" stamp on the front and several have emerged as highly collectible, demanding a strong premium with the Chipper Jones rookie card and examples of Cal Ripken, Ken Griffey Jr. and Nolan Ryan leading the way. This unopened 36-count box is extremely rare in that precious few have survived in their original, unopened state. Sealed in plastic with a sticker from expert Steve Hart/Baseball Card Exchange to verifying the contents, this is a golden opportunity to acquire one of the toughest boxes of unopened material in the modern day card collecting hobby.
