First-ballot Hall of Famer Brendan Shanahan, the only player in NHL history with over 600 goals and 2000 penalty minutes, spent a year in the middle of his career skating for the Hartford Whalers, where he succeeded Pat Verbeek as the team captain. Offered here is a sweater worn by Shanahan during that campaign, showing modest use in the form of light puck and stick marks below the crest on the front and numerous sweat stains near the neckline. The CCM, NHL Center Ice and size 54 tags are present in the neck, all numerals and the Captain's "C" are done in triple tackle twill, and the letters of the name are individually sewn onto the nameplate which is affixed to the shirt, slightly askew. The fight strap shows a bit of rust spotting on the top enclosure. A bold signature done in black fiber tip has been applied just below the crest. A tough jersey to acquire due to his short tenure with the club, this one is destined for a top-flight memorabilia collection! LOA Mile High Card Company.
