With college quarterback sensations Dan McGwire and Todd Marinovich already off the board, the Atlanta Falcons selected Southern Mississippi QB Brett Favre to compete with Chris Miller and Billy Joe Tolliver for the starting job in 1991. But Favre was relegated to third on the depth chart, throwing just four passes that season, all incomplete. Seemingly having no future in Atlanta, the Falcons traded him in the off season to the Green Bay Packers for a first round pick in the 1992 NFL Draft, #19 overall. The “Lou Gehrig” of football as it seems, Favre replaced Don Majkowski as the starter in week three and has not missed a start since, making an NFL record 286 consecutive starts (310 including playoffs) and breaks his own record with each passing week. His football resume is unprecedented: the only player to win the AP Most Valuable Player award three consecutive times, he has led teams to eight division championships, five NFC Championship Games, and two Super Bowl appearances, winning Super Bowl XXXI. He holds NFL records for most career touchdown passes, most career passing yards, most career pass completions, most career pass attempts, and most career victories as a starting quarterback, and he’s an 11-time Pro-Bowler. Probably not a good trade for Atlanta. Presented is a game-used Green Bay Packers jersey of one of greatest passers in NFL history, worn by Brett Favre during the 2002 season. This gamer bears the Reebock NFL equipment logo and “+4” L.B.” and “50” flag tags on the front right tail. The jersey tail has unique customization in that it contains dual button-hole openings, both front and back, used as connectors to Favre’s game pants. The numerals are attached in white tackle twill and correct for their size, cut, font, and positioning. Inside the neck is a white swatch reading “02-50” indicating season and size. The jersey shows light QB wear with pilling in the underarm area. LOA from Lou Lampson, Mile High Card Co.
