A few years back, we were fortunate enough to offer a spectacular Jackie Robinson single-signed baseball that contained the finest autograph known, which fetched just short of $80,000. When the featured ball reached our office, we thought it was that same ball returning to the auction block once again but realized it was actually another outstanding specimen. Penned on the side panel of the deBeer & Son Doubleheader orb, the customary "Best Wishes, Jackie Robinson" actually appears a little bolder than that PSA/DNA 9 MINT example we sold in 2017, and as a consequence, some of the still-wet ink was lightly scattered around the penning as if picked up by Robinson's fingers as he signed. The importance of Robinson's contribution to the game cannot be understated as his success on the diamond not only paved the way for the integration of the sport but served as the precursor to other landmark moments for racial equality in American history. In all, Robinson enjoyed a 10-year career that included National League MVP honors, an NL batting crown, and six consecutive All-Star game appearances. If you're an advanced autograph collector, you really need to consider making a run at this Jackie Robinson single-signed baseball, fresh to the hobby and one of the finest examples in existence.
