Offered is a very important Multi-Signed Picture Display featuring "The Four Horsemen" of Notre Dame. A Vintage sepia-toned magazine or newspaper photograph measuring approximately (14 x 6 inches) is signed in black steel tip pen by each member of Notre Dame's fabled "Four Horsemen", a dramatic nickname coined by the famed and poetic sportswriter, Grantland Rice. Harry Stuhldreher "Best Wishes" , Don Miller "Sincere wishes to Gene" has been lightly traced over on the salutation only, Elmer Layden "Good luck Gene" , and Jim Crowley "Regards". The inscriptions average between "6" and "9" in overall strength and represent what most historians refer to as, the greatest backfield in collegiate history. Coach Knute Rockne devised the lineup in 1922 during their sophomore season. Throughout the entire three-year tenure of the Four Horsemen, Notre Dame lost only two games; one each in 1922 and 1923, both to Nebraska while playing in Lincoln. After graduation, all four of these grid iron greats enjoyed successful collegiate coaching careers and were ultimately enshrined in the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame. Layden in 1951, Stuhldreher in 1958, Crowley in 1966, and Miller in 1970. Despite the amount of time that has elapsed since they once roamed the playing field in South Bend, the legend of the "Four Horsemen" has never faded from the minds of football fans. The offered piece of true Americana is beautifully framed and matted along with a full LOA from PSA/DNA that is signed by the unwavering hand of Steve Grad.
