After the champagne was gone and the much-deserved hoopla had subsided from collecting his 3,000th career hit, Hall of Fame legend promptly went back to work and rapped out three more hits, one of them a home run, the following day in a 3-2 Cards win. The featured ONL (Giles) ball was used in the game that Musial picked up hits #3,001, 3,002 and 3,003. All of the particulars of the game, including the time and attendance, have been carefully added to the ball in an unknown hand. A fabulous piece of baseball history.
