Following the legendary inaugural issue by Topps, the 1953 Topps set is far more colorful and considered more aesthetically pleasing by most collectors, though doesn't earn the same pomp and circumstance as the premier edition due to the lack of significant rookie cards. Short only the Mickey Mantle and Satchel Paige cards, this 1953 Topps set is a respectable mid-grade assemblage that starts off with card #1 Jackie Robinson EX+ and includes 244 Mays GOOD. The set is 15% EX or better, 60% VG/EX and 25% lower with #27 Campanella VG, 37 Mathews EX/MT (MC), 54 Feller VG/EX, 76 Reese EX/MT, 86 B. Martin VG, 104 Berra EX, 114 Rizzuto EX+,147 Spahn VG, 191 Kiner VG/EX, 207 Ford EX and 263 Podres GOOD.
