Drawing comparisons to fellow #1 overall draft pick Ken Griffey Jr. when he took over as the full time shortstop for the Seattle Mariners, 20-year old Alex Rodriguez led the American league with 54 doubles and 141 runs scored and took the batting crown at .328 while launching 36 bombs. It was his later years with Seattle, and then Texas and New York after that, had baseball fans excited about the prospect that Rodriguez could challenge Hank Aaron for the all-time home run title. He topped the 40 homer mark eight times, and from 1998-2007, he averaged 45 homers and 128 RBI while still posting a respectable .304 batting average. His 696 lifetime round-trippers place him 4th on the all-time list. The presented Alex Rodriguez game-used bat comes from the 2002 season, when he led the league in home runs (57) and runs batted in (142). A Louisville Slugger model C271 with specs of 33 1/2 inches and 31 ounces, this gamer is uncracked and displays heavy use with deeply embedded ball marks, cleat marks that have taken off some of the black finish, and heavy pine tar marks on the handle. The bat has been autographed in silver marker and inscribed "Alex Rodriguez 2002 Game Used" and carries the "A-Rod 3" authentication label. LOA from John Taube - PSA/DNA with a grade of GU 10 and LOA from Alex Rodriguez.
