Following the success of their "Horrors of War" set released in 1938, Gum, Inc. released the smaller "Uncle Sam" set in 1941. These cards featured artwork similar in color and detail to the Horrors of War issue, though far less graphic and disturbing. Rather than gory scenes of death and dismemberment, US Military training is depicted, with card reverses describing the activities of each branch of the soldier, sailor, airman, and marine. Offered here is a complete set of (96) cards, with bold, captivating colors and crisply detailed imagery. Condition is approximately 35% EX/MT, 35% EX, 20% VG/EX and 10% VG with no creasing or writing. A solid mid-grade set with tons of fresh-looking colors, with technical assessments largely determined by the typical centering issues.
