Many legendary pitchers have turned in superhuman performances over a season or even a stretch of several seasons, but no pitcher so dominated the league over his entire career than "The Big Train," Walter Johnson. Playing his entire 21-year career with the Washington Senators, Johnson struck out 3,508 hitters, the all-time record at his retirement, and still holds the major league record with 110 career shutouts. He led the American League in strikeouts 12 times, shutouts seven times, wins and complete games six times, ERA five times, and finished his career with 417 wins and a 2.17 ERA. While there's no doubt that Johnson benefited from the "dead-ball" era, he continued to dominate late into his career by recording 140 victories from 1919-1927 and earning his second MVP award in 1924 at the age of 36. Offered is a true piece of American history; a single-signed Walter Johnson baseball that has Johnson's signature right across the sweet spot. Modestly faded with age but still very much legible, the multi-color stitched ball with it's steel-tip fountain pen autograph is a perfect addition to a any advanced collection. Triple authenticated with LOA's from JSA, SGC and PSA/DNA.
