This set has a lot in common with another non-sport set in this auction: the 1964 Topps John F. Kennedy set. Each set consists of cards with black and white photos on the front and a brief, politically neutral statement on the reverse. In fact, the last card of this set and the first card of the JFK set share the same picture of Johnson and Kennedy together. Coincidence, or was someone at Topps trying to draw a connection between these two sets? We’ll probably never know. Card number 13 in this set is interesting in that it shows LBJ holding an autographed baseball, which according to the card’s reverse was previously signed by Presidents Kennedy, Eisenhower and Truman. The cards in this set range in condition from EX-MT to MINT with most being NM-MT or better.
